Instruction
*
The instruction is mainly 1 on 1 and CUSTOMIZED according to each unique situation and to the needs and requests of each individual student.
Rather than any one, single method - a COMPOSIT OF various schools, METHODS and sources are used
Including those suggested by the student him / herself. (while preserving the teacher student relationship)
Involvement range from learning songs in a casual manner to professional ADVICE / CONSULTANT or a MENTOR relationship.
GROUP LESSONS are popular and have been successfully conducted as well. The organization of this is usually managed by the student(s)
Typically when playing together in a group or small ensemble situation is desired or needs to be practically organized. Sessions like those often
tend to be more WORKSHOP oriented and rather than single or double lessons they typically demand an afternoon (3 - 4 hrs.) of continued work.
SHARING lessons is possible and if so, the students themselves coordinate this.
Levels
*
All levels are taught.
beginner, Intermediate and advanced
All ages above 9
Styles
*
All styles are taught.
Eventhough certain techniques are associated with certain styles - style is not an instrumental technique in itself.
Rather traditional techniques are commonly adapted and adjusted to a style. So knowing the rudiments is a safe bet.
However playing songs that relates to oneself can if done right be satisfactory replacements for plain excercises.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN

GENERAL NYC RATE GUIDE : $50 / hr. has been a standard New York City rate for private music instruction for quite some time now. And typically anything below this is often regarded as
less qualified, less credible, not certified or not serious. Please here note that while a college or graduate music student, learning how to teach at times may charge less, this should ideally
if so be supervised by an experienced educator to be credible. Therefore NYCGS stay within the $50 range, and any package discount is quite simply an invitation to come and try it all out.
"How long is each session" ?
The duration of the outcall sessions on the other hand, may vary depending on the situation. In the latter case,
typically a SINGLE SESSION is a little longer than an hour all in turn depending on what we work on and how we
are doing and so forth. Often, with children 30 - 45 minutes appears to be a reasonable timeframe for a lesson.
For the outcalls, a DOUBLE SESSION is simply a longer session than a single. Treated more like a mini-workshop
it can last anywhere from 2.5 hrs to an afternoon and is ideal or suitable for intermediate to advanced students
in a need of playing and / or composing together with the teacher during sessions. A double session also makes
sense for those who travel far or are for other reasons unable to keep a more strict regular commute routine.
Progressive discounts
*
Weekly, bi-weekly or REGULAR STUDENTS ( in a cycle or not ) gets a DISCOUNT DEAL.
Meaning by deciding upon getting either 4, 10 or more lessons, and then paying for it in advance, this
commitment then renders them a substantial discount. A mutually beneficial investement in the planned
instruction. The discounts, bulk or package deals vary some, all depending on.
So unless
familiar with the
studio, it's best to decide on this after 1-2 lessons
when the
objectives and means to meet them are more realized.
Typically a BUY 3 GET 1 FREE deal ( $150 ) is available. Common is also a TEN LESSON PACKAGE ( $350 )
this varies some as well, so the best way to know and to stay updated is in any case always to call and check.
Cancellation Policy
*
Cancellation 48 hours before a scheduled appointment is the policy generally endorsed.
But in any case 24 hrs before
is a must for mutual respect for the situation and process.
If with shorter notice than this, the student loses the lesson, and the money invested in it.
